Wormwood,. Artemesia absinthe, Essential oil Â is a top note in perfumery and aromatherapy. It brings definition and attention to a blend. Its strong aroma lends to light dosing. A drop in an ounce blend of herbaceous essential oils, mints, lavender absolute, citrus, patchouli, cedarwood, black spruce and spices is usually a correct dose. It blends well with several drops of tuberose absolute, producing an exotic, floral green and nearly narcotic aroma. Wormwood has been used in aromatherapy to reduce epilepsy, convulsions and hysteria by inhaling small amounts. Avoid prolonged use. Wormwood is a nerve toxin when ingested and should be used cautiously in aromas. Do not use wormwood in a bath; avoid usage with children, nursing and pregnant mothers. It is safe to use in small amounts in a natural perfume.

Angelica Root (Angelica archangelica),has an earthy aroma Â that reduces stress disorders, migraines, spasms and tension. It balances anorexics, supports digestion and reduces anemia. Diluted in a carrier oil, it helps anorexics. Massage onto the stomach and navel area daily. Angelica root aids circulation by reducing the accumulation of toxic, metabolic waste. It is very beneficial for psoriasis and helps produce a radiant complexion. It benefits Â those who have acne added to comfrey yarrow cream. I use it with attention deficit and hyperactive people in attention deficit and autistic blends. Dilute 1 drop in 1 cup of water or 2 tablespoons of carrier oil or comfrey yarrow cream. Avoid during pregnancy or with children under 5 years old. The essential oil is made from steam distilled roots. In Medeval times, Angelica root essential oil protected people from epidemics and, possibly ,the plague.
Basil essential oil clears the mind, enhancing memory and reducing emotional turmoil. It is a natural anti viral, especially the herpes virus and Hepetits A,B and C. Use it in blends to encourage stamina and courage. It is an excellent choice for adrenal insufficiency, fainting and epilepsy. Basil Â also repels flies and small flying insects. For an insect repellent, dilute five drops in one cup of water Â In carrier oil, add 2 drops in 1 tablespoon. In water dispersion, add 3 drops of Basil oil to 1 cup of water.
Benzoin Styrax (tonkinese) is a soft, sweet Â calming vanilla-like scent that blends well with other essential oils. It extends the vanilla scent without overwhelming the blend. The aroma is calming, sensual and rejuvenating. Benzoin combines well with any essential oil . I like to add it to Oriental and masculine aroma blends such as, Patchouli,Tarragon, Vetiver and Labdanum. It blends with florals and herbals in small quantities.
Bergamot essential oil is a hybrid of bitter orange and lemon, a very popular fragrance for skincare. Bergamot removes the desires involved in addictive and nonproductive behavior. It alsoÂ has been used historically to reduce cold sores, fevers, anorexia, gingivitis,sore throats, cystitis, colic, dry and oily skin. Bergamot affects the liver beneficially . affecting blood sugar balance, cholesterol and triglycerides usage. In natural perfumes, Bergamot is a preferred top note to define the blend and lure the recipient to wear the aroma blend. Bergamot blends well with all citrus, floral and herbals and spices. I use it to lift heavy woody aromas,such as Cabreuva and Cedar.
