Ancient cultures have used holy basil essential oil to reduce symptoms of emotional imbalances for thousands of years. In spiritual reconnection, Sacred Basil has been used to open the highest centers of the brain. It is worn or inhaled for calming, meditative rejuvenation. In an aromatherapy blend, I use Holy Basil as a top note. However, it can also be used as a middle note if you like the strong scent.
Do not use Basil with pregnant or lactating women or people allergic to herbs in the mint family. Holy Basil essential oil may lower thyroxine levels and/or slow blood clotting.
Lime and Lemongrass boost Basil's aromatic potency. It blends well with Mediterranean herb essential oil, like rosemary, sage, citrus, geranium, marjoram and lavender.
